The unmanned vessel “Sea Lookout R60” was successfully delivered for sea trials in Sanya, Hainan

Recently, China’s independently developed unmanned autonomous vessel “Sea Lookout R60” successfully completed its sea test mission in Sanya, Hainan and was officially delivered. This marks an important breakthrough in the civilian and practical application of intelligent navigation technology and also injects new impetus into the intelligent upgrade of China’s Marine equipment.

The “Sea Lookout R60” is a medium-sized unmanned surface vessel developed by Hangzhou Weihai Fangzhou Technology Co., LTD. The vessel is 2 meters in total length, featuring pure electric propulsion and modular design. It is equipped with fully autonomous navigation, intelligent obstacle avoidance, multi-mission payload integration, and remote control functions. It can be widely applied in various fields such as Marine mapping, environmental monitoring, security patrol, and scientific research exploration.

This sea survey was carried out in the waters near Sanya, focusing on verifying the R60’s autonomous navigation capability, communication stability and mission execution reliability under complex sea conditions. During the testing process, the vessel successfully completed tasks such as full autonomous navigation along the preset route, dynamic obstacle avoidance, and real-time data transmission, demonstrating excellent adaptability and robustness.

The delivery of the “Sea Lookout R60” is not only a successful technical verification but also a significant demonstration of China’s achievement of independent control over key technologies in the field of intelligent ships. The chief engineer of the project stated at the delivery ceremony, “It can play a significant role in scenarios such as unmanned Marine surveys, smart port support, and maritime emergency rescue in the future.”

As an important fulcrum of the national strategy for building a maritime power and a frontier in the construction of a free trade port, Hainan is actively promoting the in-depth integration of Marine science and technology with industries. The final testing and delivery of the “Sea Lookout R60” in Sanya this time also reflect the favorable policies and environmental guarantees provided by the local area in supporting the research and application of Marine high-tech.

With the successful delivery of the “Sea Lookout R60”, the project team will next promote its large-scale application in actual business scenarios and continue to develop a series of intelligent unmanned ships with larger tonnage and stronger mission adaptability, helping China maintain its leading position in the global intelligent ship field.

无人船舶不仅是航运业的未来方向,也是海洋经济数字化、智能化转型的核心装备之一。“海上瞭望R60”的成功测海,为我国智能导航技术的发展谱写了坚实而充满希望的篇章。
